I just made a memory that will last my whole life.
I made a promise to a 10 year old in June that if he did not have to move rocks at Camp of the Hills, I would take him to Gatti-town. Being somewhat of a fluff-head, I forgot about this promise until two weeks ago when Tunca called me on my mistake.
So, around 6pm today, Megan, Patrick, and I picked up Tunca and his brothers and took them to Gatti-town. We gorged ourselves with pizza and got up to almost 700 tickets in games. Though the trip to Gatti-town was fun, the BEST PART came shortly after we left to go home.
The boys are pros at the soulja boy dance and were showing us their moves as we made our way to the car. We were talking about how awesome it would be if we turned on Candy 95 and that song was on. So, we all held our breath as I turned on the car only to hear "Bubbly" blasting from the speakers.
Patrick said, "I bet you anything Soulja Boy is coming on next. Just watch." Megan and I made a deal that if it did come on while on our way home I would pull the car over and we would all get out and dance.
Can you guess what happened next? Yeah! As I pull out of the parking lot on to Texas Ave, Soulja Boy comes on and we all start screaming. I quickly pulled into a parking lot across the street from Outback and we proceed to turn up the song as loud as my speakers would allow, get out of the car, and dance in the middle of a deserted parking lot. Picture it: 3 young black boys who have rhythm running through their veins, and 3 college white kids who all happened to be on drum line but are none the less- white. All of them dancing around a beat up old red mini-van in a deserted parking lot. It was awesome. We had random people pulling up and watching in awe as we busted our moves.
Megan, Patrick, and I all agreed that tonight will be something we remember forever. It ranks up in the top 10 college experiences. I love those kids and all of my other HYPE kids. I thank God for them everyday. It was awesome.
